The Kauai Outdoor Circle cleans, weeds, plants, and prunes in our Kauai Neighborhoods to help fulfil our mission to Keep Kauai Clean, Green and Beautiful. Community members nominate public areas on the island that need our Tender Loving Care. Some of these nominations become work projects. Volunteers enjoy helping project leaders accomplish these. The comradery of working together with others that share the same values and the satisfaction of putting sweat equity into meaningful community service make it a favorite outdoor activity. One of the perks of Kauai Outdoor Circle membership is the ability to participate in occasional tours of some of Kauai's best private and public gardens. Check out some of our past garden tours with the link below. You can also recommend a future garden tour.
Kauai Outdoor Circle hosts classes throughout the year to encourage and improve home landscape maintenance and home gardening for fruit, vegetable and flower gardens. Outdoor Circle members can take classes for free of for a discount. Ca-Ching! Cash It In!
The Kauai Outdoor Circle provides ongoing training for arborists, yard maintenance staff, and public servants. Whether it is a refresher course in the aesthetics, best practices, or technique for arborists, upping the game of yard maintenance warrior, or improving the standards of our State and County public servants in parks, roadways, and other public spaces. The Kauai Outdoor Circle helps to meet training needs.
Signage and Clutter Control Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign...how many do we need? Can less be more?
in DATE The Outdoor Circle encouraged the HI Legislature to put the kibosh on allowing billboards to mar Hawaii's beautiful natural land-and-sea-scapes. The Kauai Outdoor Circle also worked with the Kauai County Council to establish a sign ordinance to ban off-site advertising signs and reduce the clutter on our highways and byways. The organization continues to work with our governments to meet the needs of information and advertising signs in our towns while keeping our communities clean, green and beautiful. The Kauai Outdoor Circle advocates for good governance and helps inform and educate the public about state and county laws and best practices regarding signage. Exceptional Trees The Outdoor Circle in Hawaii maintains a list of Exceptional Trees throughout the islands. The Kauai Outdoor Circle maintains the list of Kauai Exceptional Trees. Nominations for the exceptional tree list are reviewed by a group of qualified arborists to determine if they are added to the list.
